About

According to https://www.androidpolice.com/my-new-favorite-android-accessory-made-for-iphone/ , the Clicks Keyboard for iPhone, currently (Jan 2025) the only option for a hard keyboard on a reasonably recent phone (seriously), Just Works on Android.

If your phone fits.

Side comment: you can add your name to the “please work on android” list at https://app.knocommerce.com/surveys/deee5aa5-29c1-4df7-a895-bb18341a566f

Anyway. I don’t necessarily want to use the Nothing 1?, so I thought I’d look at what other phones might fit.

This turned into a bit of a chore so I wrote it down. I have not actually tried any of these yet.

Notes:

  • The iPhone 14 ones won’t work, because lightning.

  • These searches only include phones that have at least Android 11 support.

  • I searched using a 1mm tolerance except for height, where the minimum tolerance on GSM Arena is 5mm. Now, 1mm is a very tight tolerance and it’s possible a phone slightly outside that range would still work, I dunno.

  • I only write out the names of phones that are both after 2020 and fairly mainstream; you can follow the links yourself if you like.

iPhone 15: 147.6mm x 71.6mm x 7.8mm

iPhone 15 Plus: 160.9mm x 77.8mm x 7.8mm

Buncha phones here. Unfortunately, all the Samsung ones have the 3 vertical camera arrangement, which means the case will need manual modification, except the Samsung Galaxy M53, which stops at Android 13.

Looking at the Samsung Galaxy A16 5G and Samsung Galaxy S24 FE, the volume buttons aren’t in the same place, but they’re in the same general area so it’d probably work OK-ish.

There are also tecno and vivo phones that would probably work, but those are no-name-brand to me.

iPhone 15 Pro: 146.6mm x 70.6mm x 8.3mm

iPhone 15 Pro Max: 159.9mm x 76.7mm x 8.3mm

https://www.gsmarena.com/results.php3?nHeightMin=155&nHeightMax=160&nWidthMin=76&nWidthMax=77&nThicknessMin=8&nThicknessMax=9&idOS=2&idOSVersion=2920

Only 3 with Android 14, the Samsung Galaxy A54, the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE, and the HMD Skyline. Both the Samsungs have the vertical camera problem.

All three have volume buttons on the wrong side.

Why isn’t the Nothing 1 on there? Because my width tolerances were too tight. Here’s one that includes that and is only Android 14+:

The Nothing 1 seems to be the only one with the buttons on the correct side. Uh, unless you want to buy a Sharp phone, I guess.
